A Super-Cute App for Kids: Saffy Looks for Rain

Everyone's favourite baby giraffe has gone digital with a great new interactive app for kids

It will come as no surprise that we are big fans of Paola Opal’s lovable board book character, Saffy. So we were delighted to learn that the sweet baby giraffe has gone digital with the iPhone and iPad app version of Saffy Looks for Rain—the first of the Simply Small book apps.

The app, which has been shortlisted for a 2012 Appy award for best educational/kids app, allows your budding reader to experience Saffy in a whole new way. Like the popular board book, the app is simple and straightforward so that it can be enjoyed by little ones age one to four. The app features three reading modes: it will read the story to your child, let them read along silently, or even let them record their own voice. And we love the colourful, interactive illustrations that really help to bring the story to life.

When reading time is over, little ones can also play a Saffy puzzle game within the app, or colour pages from the story with a simple digital painting tool.

If your kiddo is a fan of Saffy and her friends, this app is a must. Bonus: for a limited time, this app is free in the iTunes store!

Saffy Looks for Rain for iPhone and iPad, $3, available from iTunes.
