This sweet and sturdy board book is a good choice for the really little ones. Babies can touch and feel each page, while simple text reflects the season.

This sweetly spooky picture book—created by a father and daughter duo— highlights that the one thing little beasties like to do best is to dance! Slowly, all 10 little beasties join in the fun, but when one stirs up a bit of trouble, the dance party ends, and they leave one by one.

Whimsical illustrations and charming rhyming prose make this a great Halloween book for kids who are learning to count.

Bonus: The book includes a downloadable song!

Dagmar is a vampire, but he's also a vegetarian. And he lives in a town called Vunce Upon a Time. This is the kind of delightful whimsy we've come to expect from J. Otto Seibold's wonderful books. In addition to being funny and quirky, the book also helps with counting and includes lots of flaps to lift.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

Take the classic Peanuts TV special to bed with you! Kids can press the buttons and hear sound clips from the show and follow along as little Linus does his best to convince his friends of the existence of The Great Pumpkin, an imaginary holiday figure who visits the most "sincere" pumpkin patch each year and delivers toys to deserving kids. Too cute and full of nostalgia for parents.

By Kate Stone

We love this sweet tale about a little monster wandering the woods on Halloween night. He encounters all kinds of shadows and sounds, but he isn't scared, because he turns everything spooky into something nice ("And when he heard a hoot and howl, he knew it was a friendly owl"). The surprise ending is really charming, but it's the intricately cut pages and vellum overlays that really make this book magical.

It's not often you'll come up against a Halloween book that really tugs at the heartstrings, but Bone Dog certainly does. The book is about a boy named Sam whose dog has died, and he's so sad he doesn't want to go trick-or-treating. But when Sam comes up against a menacing group of skeletons, it's his dog—back as a skeleton herself—who comes to the rescue. A sweet story and beautiful illustrations.
