Add Some Sparkle to Kid’s Sneakers: Crafting With Glitter

Photography from Jenny at the Southern Institute for Domestic Arts and Crafts

Spring is a time to add a little razzle-dazzle to your everyday items. And why not? The sun is shining, we’re not all bundled up in our parkas and boots anymore, and shoes are finally making it home in basically the same the condition that they left in.

Marie LeBaron from Make and Takes invited guest blogger Jenny from the Southern Institute for Domestic Arts and Crafts to create a fun craft post. Jenny and Marie share a particular passion for turning old clothes into works of art and so the inspiration for Give Your Shoes Some Glitter Bling was born!

Regardless of how complicated it may look (and let’s be honest, a little messy) the outcome will be so worth any of the trouble getting there.

Jenny used her daughter’s pink Converse High Tops, Tulip Fashion Glitter and Glitter Bond (which can be purchased at Michael’s Craft Stores), some contact paper, an exacto knife and a mat to go underneath that is safe to cut on. Follow her step-by-step instructions and watch your kid’s eyes light up with the glittery reincarnation of their most beloved sneakers.
