For those of you that have picked up our latest issue, you’ll notice another set of DIY projects à la Canadian Family for you and your little ones to make. This time around we featured simple craft ideas that turn your household clutter into practical items that you’ll actually use. But we left one of our secrets to be exclusively revealed to all of our blog followers!
On the same page as ‘cover your can’ [page 47], you may have noticed a slightly obscured can in the background. Well, we made this one too, and it was just too beautiful to let it stay in the background. So let us shed some light on how we did it:
One clean, empty can
Lots of stamps
Step 1: Collect a pile of stamps to adorn your can
Step 2: Spread the Mod Podge over a small area (about 2″ x 2″), and place stamps
Step 3: Spread another layer of Mod Podge over top of stamps to seal
Step 4: Repeat steps 2 & 3 until can is covered, making sure that your stamps are overlapping to create a sporadic appearance
Tip: Vintage stamps are beautiful but if you don’t have enough to cover the can you can cheat by scanning the stamps you have and then printing them on quality paper. Use those for the background and let the real ones pop on top.
