DIY Father’s Day Gift: A Custom Sign for “Dad’s Kitchen”

Add some pizzazz to Dad's grilling area with this hand-painted sign

Photography by Tonya Staab,

For the dad who loves to cook outside, this is the perfect handmade gift for Father’s Day. Dad most likely has a special spot out on the patio for his grill, and this DIY hand-painted sign we found on Multiples and More is a fun way to decorate this outdoor area.

This is a project that the kids can definitely help out with, too. The sign is meant to have a worn appearance, so they won’t have to follow any rules while painting it. Mom can take over the more difficult duties and add details to the sign later on.

What you’ll need:
•  An old sign
•  Sandpaper
•  Cloth
•  Sealer
•  Outdoor paint
•  Letter stencils
•  Pen/pencil
•  Paintbrushes
•  Exterior varnish

Full instructions for this cool craft can be found over at Multiples and More. We love that this gift is both useful and durable. Dad can proudly display this sign next to his grill for years to come with the satisfaction that he now has his very own “kitchen.”
