It seems like finding ways to decorate your backyard or patio is a lot easier in the summer when it’s warm out and there are an abundance of flowers available for you to choose from. Once fall hits and the cold weather starts rolling in, however, it’s time to get a little more creative.

We found this easy-to-make bright pine cone garland by Kimbo West on her blog A Girl and a Glue Gun. It works well as a summer decor piece, but is especially perfect for fall and winter since you don’t have to worry about the pinecones wilting away as cold fronts come through.

What you’ll need:

  • Pine cones
  • Spray paint
  • Twine

You can find complete instructions on making your own pine cone garland using these materials over at Kimbo’s website A Girl and a Glue Gun.

Make this craft fun for the whole family by having your kids go outside to handpick the pine cones and letting them choose the different colours of spray paint for the pine cones.
