Quick and Easy Activity: Make Your Own Marble Race Track

Photography by Amy, Serving Pink Lemonade

Sometimes it seems like the simplest things will keep kids entertained for hours—like playing hide and seek or making a fort out of blankets and couch cushions. It’s a nice reminder that we don’t always need to spend piles of money on expensive electronic gadgets and games to keep kids busy. In fact, sometimes all it takes is a quick trip to the dollar store for an afternoon of fun.

We found this brilliant afternoon activity over on HomeSpun Threads, where it was shared by Amy from the blog Serving Pink Lemonade. With just a few inexpensive materials, you’ll have a super-fun “race track” that your kids will flip for. Kids will need help when it comes to prepping the track, but can take on decorating duties—and racing, of course!

What you’ll need:
• A pool noodle
• Sharp scissors or a knife
• Toothpicks
• Paper
• Markers
• An old shoebox
• A bag of marbles

You’ll find the full instructions for the marble race track over at HomeSpun Threads. As Amy points out, this is a great indoor activity for a rainy day—but you can easily move it outside if the weather is nice! Just don’t be surprised if you find yourself wanting to get in on the fun, too.
