Pick of the Week: Lalaloopsy Mini Dolls

Lalaloopsy Minis; (T) Mittens Fluff 'N' Stuff, (B) Jewels Sparkles

Move over Polly Pocket, there’s a new mini doll collection in town. The Lalaloopsy Minis. are modeled after their larger, cloth predecessors but are just as adorable. The 3-inch cuties come complete with a pet and two accessories that correspond with their theme. Here at CF we tested two examples of the Mini line: Jewels Sparkles and Mittens Fluff ‘N’ Stuff. Sparkles comes with a kitten, a mirror and a perfume bottle, while Mittens comes with a polar bear, snowman and marshmallows on a stick.

What we love: These sweet little dolls would be great for imaginative, unstructured play. They’re colourful and appear to be made of a durable and flexible plastic that held up to some substantial tugging, pulling and bending. The packaging the dolls come in also acts as sturdy cardboard house, which is nice because it reduces the amount of packaging waste.

What we don’t love: Like their cloth counterparts, the minis have floppy legs and bobble-heads that flop like a real rag doll should, which means they can’t stand up on their own but do stay in a sturdy sitting position. And despite the fact that the packaging is dual purpose, it’s still hard as heck to open it.

There are eight Minis available, and they can be purchased at major toy retailer across Canada. $7 (Ages 4+)
