Whether your family’s ideal vacation itinerary involves soaking up rays on the beach or working on golf swings, Florida is a location that delivers. From the east to the west coast, here are two new destinations to add to your vacation wishlist. If you seek romantic strolls on a quiet beach, go east to Jupiter Beach Resort and Spa. If no break is complete without a round of world-class tennis, go west to The Resort at Longboat Key Club. Both locations offer superb beach access, onsite pools, luxury spas and great dining. Can’t decide? Drive the 2.5 to 3 hours from the gulf to the Atlantic and get the best of both worlds.
BEFORE YOU GO
Sun seekers and sleet-avoiders—we call them “Snowbirds”—migrate to Florida en masse during the Canadian winter. Their large numbers create a true on/off season in this region. To avoid the crowds in the peak months but still enjoy good weather, go either in late April/early May or late October/early November.
Passport? As with any destination outside of Canada, every member of your family will need a passport to travel to the United States, but no special permits or vaccinations are required.
Sun safety: Sunscreen, with a SPF higher than 20, is always recommended.
Packing: Pack beach and resort-casual wear, along with a couple of options for colder nights and you’ll be all set.
