Kids will have a blast making these yummy ornament-inspired treats

We’re big fans of handmade ornaments for the tree—thumbprint reindeer, cute Christmas lists and sweet-smelling cinnamon gingerbread shapes, to name a few. But we’re also fans of crafts that you can eat, and this idea for yummy edible ornaments from the team at Rice Krispies is really the best of both worlds.

With just a few extra ingredients, regular Rice Krispies treats get a fun holiday makeover. You don’t have to hang them on the tree, of course—just decorate as you please and serve as a festive dessert. This recipe is sure to be a hit with junior chefs, who can tackle the whole thing from start to finish (with some adult supervision, of course).

What you’ll need:
• Rice Krispies cereal
• Butter
• Marshmallows (large and mini)
• Licorice rope
• Frosting
• M&M’s and/or other candy decorations of your choice

You’ll find the full recipe and directions over on the Rice Krispies website. We think this is a great way to keep kids entertained for hours on a chilly afternoon. And if you’re looking for more projects to keep little ones busy, check out these fun holiday craft ideas.
