We know our readers love bento meals, but some of those adorable lunchbox creations are time-consuming and, frankly, can be lost on the littles. That’s why we love this super-creative fresh take on bento from Brandy at Gluesticks. She had the smart idea of tucking little finger-food snacks into plastic eggs and packing them into an egg carton, creating an Easter egg bento lunch. Great recycling idea, plus it’s adorable, and will appeal to kids who like the “small plates” approach to lunch.
Brandy packed the plastic eggs with bits of cheese, Goldfish crackers, grapes, tiny sandwich squares and dried fruit bits. But there are dozens more choices that would be perfect fare for the littles who lunch.
Brandy used the eggy snacks as an after-school surprise, hiding the eggs all over the yard so her kids could hunt for them, but I think the fun packaging would stand up to most travel conditions, including a trip to the park, the backyard, or even to school without much fuss.
So fun. You might also like Brandy’s darling cookie “bunny houses.”
