Quick and Tasty Appetizer Idea: Homemade Mozzarella Sticks

Photography by Taste of Home

When it comes to restaurant appetizers, mozzarella sticks are pretty much guaranteed to be a home run with kids. They’re gooey, they’re delicious—and you get to dip them in pizza sauce, which is a nice bonus. While you can easily find a box of frozen mozzarella sticks at your local supermarket, we think this homemade version from Taste of Home is an even better option. They’re so simple to make, you’ll have them prepped and on the table in only 20 minutes.

What you’ll need:
• 12 pieces string cheese
• 12 egg roll wrappers
• Oil for frying
• Marinara or spaghetti sauce

You’ll find the full recipe and directions for these homemade mozzarella sticks over on the Taste of Home website. We think they’d make a great finger food for your next party, sure to be enjoyed by adults and kids alike. One caveat: at 241 calories and 423 mg of sodium per stick, it’s best to limit kids to just one or two of these yummy treats.
