Baby Names You Have Never Heard…But Will Love

Want a slightly off-the-wall name for your wee darling? We've got 30 baby names you have never heard before...but that we think you'll adore.

While many parents aim to name their littles traditional names, family names and favourite names, some parents are looking for something a little different for their babes (our editor’s son’s name is Leith—pronounced with a long A sound which is the Arabic word for baby lion).

Though it’s easy to choose a unique name or even make up a name, picking a name that’s clever and cool—and not just totally unpronounceable!—can be challenging.

We searched the web for “different” names for wee babes…here’s a list of our favourite 15 for each gender. Do you have a favourite?

  1. Linlal says:

Names we’ve never heard of?? Rhett? As in Rhett Butler in Gone with the Wind? Lorelei?? As in Lorelei Gilmore in the Gilmore Girls?
Astoria? As in the hotel?? Not a name I’d want for my teen daughter unless you really want the boys asking about checking in or getting a room.
Hampton? As in a place to go in the summer if you’re rich?
Several of the others aren’t exactly unknown.
