New Outdoor Ed Program for Homeschoolers

Andrew McMartin and students.

Our pal Andrew McMartin, executive director of the P.I.N.E. Project—an outdoor and environmental education initiative in Toronto—told us recently about the latest addition to the P.I.N.E. class schedule: outdoor education programs for home-schooled kids.

If your kids are in Toronto, and they’re either home-schooled or in a half-day program, these classes with Andrew are a great way to encourage a love and respect for the natural environment. Full day programs are available for older kids and teens.

In a small-class environment, kids will learn about ecology, sustainable living, nature and wildlife, indigenous craft making, survival skills, wild edibles, shelter construction, animal tracking, native plant gardening and so much more.

Spots are still available for the following classes:

• Ages 5-8, Tues or Thurs from 9:30am to 12:30pm
• Ages 9-13, Wednesday from 9:30am to 3:30pm
• Ages 14-17, Monday from 10am to 5pm
Check the P.I.N.E site for all the details, and to peruse their fantastic evening and weekend family classes, adult classes and kids classes.
