Healthy Homemade Lemonade

Nothing completes a late sunny afternoon like a glass of fresh lemonade. Downfall? The sugar high that lasts through dinner and trickles into bath and bed time. For a less rowdy evening, try this no-sugar added recipe, submitted by reader Abigail in 2008.

Squeeze out the juice of four or five lemons (about 200 mL). Mix with one litre of unsweetened apple juice. Add fresh mint leaves or strawberries for a tasty garnish.

Tip: For summer fetes, add seltzer to make it bubbly for the kids, and to please adults, serve it over ice with Pimm’s.
