Mom and Dad Getaway to Langdon Hall

School’s out for summer, and though you love having your little dears at home, all that together time could have you longing for a night (or two) away pour deux. I recently visited a sweet spot in Cambridge, just an over an hour’s drive from Toronto, that’s the perfect place for a mom and dad getaway—Langdon Hall Country House Hotel & Spa.

One of Canada’s 16 prestigious Relais & Chateaux properties, Langdon Hall is all about relaxed luxury. Situated on 200 breathtaking acres, the hotel has a variety of gorgeous rooms to choose from (you can stay in the main house, the Stables or the Cloister wing), featuring ultra-chic country decor and amenities like wood-burning fireplaces and decadent soaker tubs. I have stayed in all three types of rooms and love them all, but my new favourites are the recently refurbished Cloister suites—airy, quiet, private and oh-so Zen.

While at Langdon Hall, plan to do a lot of relaxing, maybe some spa-ing (Thai massage or oxygenating facial anyone?) and a lot of eating. Last year chef Jonathan Gushue was recognized as one of the world’s best with the Grand Chef Relais & Chateaux designation; this year Langdon made the coveted San Pellegrino World’s 100 Best Restaurants list.

Dinner at Langdon Hall is an experience in itself. Expect a two-hour plus gourmet indulgence (when is the last time that happened at home?), choosing from an inventive, locally grown menu that Gushue switches up weekly. Sound like heaven on earth? It is, and there are some great packages available for summer.

Prices start at $460 per couple (for a midweek stay), which includes one night accommodation, a three course dinner and full country breakfast.
