A Fun Way to Teach Your Kids About Money (Seriously)

Now that kids are back at school and learning new things every day, it may be a good time to pass on some lessons about money: earning it, spending it, saving it and investing it. That’s where Planet Orange comes in.

From the fine folks at ING Direct, the site teaches kids ages 6 to 11 all about the finer points of money through games and fun activities. Kids can earn Obux (the currency available on Planet Orange), and then wander the planet learning how to manage it.

A parents section provides some helpful info and answers questions, and a teacher’s section offers downloadable lesson plans and tutorials.

FYI: The site is not heavily branded as an ING site, and though they do confess they’d like you to bank with them if you don’t already, they swear they will not use the opportunity to sell things to your child.
