Place squash into a steamer insert and steam over boiling water for 15 minutes; add apple quarters and continue to steam for 5 minutes or until both squash and apple are very tender. Drain water and transfer squash and apples to pot.
Add butter, brown sugar, salt, pepper, curry powder and nutmeg to pot with squash and apples. Mash until smooth. If not serving right away, place pot over low heat and cover to keep warm.
