Preheat oven to 300ºF and position rack in centre of oven. Transfer pie crust to a 9-inch pie plate, pressing into plate.
In a bowl, whisk sugar, corn syrup, butter, cream, eggs, yolks and vanilla. Stir in pecans and chocolate chips.
Scrape filling into the pie shell and bake 40 minutes. Increase temp to 400ºF and bake another 7–10 minutes. The pie is done when pastry is golden brown and filling is puffed up slightly but still jiggly and moist in the centre. Let pie cool completely before slicing.
