Everyone loves homemade bread sticks straight from the oven—just keep the fact that you had a bit of help with the dough back in the kitchen. You can also switch up the cheese and herbs to your taste.

Makes 24 bread sticks
Prep Time
Prep to table time: 25 minutes
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Gruyère cheese
  • 1 tsp chopped fresh rosemary leaves
  • 700 g refrigerated pizza dough
  • coarse salt (optional)
  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.

  2. Line 2 sheet pans with parchment paper. In a food processor or with your hands, mix the Parmesan, Gruyère and rosemary together until coarsely chopped; set aside. Roll out dough. Using a pizza cutter or a large, sharp knife, cut each dough into strips 1 1/2 centimetres wide. Working with 1 strip at a time, coat with the cheese mixture, pressing very gently, then twist and place onto baking sheet. Sprinkle coarse salt over bread sticks if desired.

  3. Bake until bread sticks are golden brown, about 15 minutes. Transfer warm bread sticks to a platter and serve.
