Homemade Whole Wheat and Beer Pizza

This pizza has been known to disappear off plates in seconds. Be creative with your toppings and use what's in your fridge.

  • 2 Cups of white all purpose flour
  • 1/2 Cups of whole wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 1/2 tablespoons chili flakes (if you like spice)
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 Cup of beer at room temperature (cold beer will stop the yeast from working, so the dough won't rise and will be tough)
  • 1/2 Cups of olive oil
  • 1/4 Cups water (if needed)
  • 11 Cup bbq sauce
  • 1 Cup cubed cooked chicken breast (or rip apart store bought bbq'd chicken)
  • 1 Cup low fat shredded cheese (marble or mozzarella)
  • 1/2 Cups of fresh spinach
  • 1/2 Cups of sliced onions
  • 1/2 Cups of sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 Cups of sliced peppers
  1. Put all of the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl and turn on mixer until dry ingredients are evenly mixed.

  2. Add olive oil and beer, continue to mix until a ball of dough forms. If it's a little dry, add a more beer or warm water. If it's a little sticky, sprinkle on flour. When you remove the dough from the bowl, it should be sticky but not leave anything on your fingers or in the bowl.

  3. Stretch dough onto greased cookie sheet or pizza stone.

  4. Top with bbq sauce and other ingredients.

  5. Cook for 30-45 minutes at 400°F until crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbling.

Nutrients per serving (based on 4 servings): 749 calories, 29 g fat, 28 g protein, 7 g fiber, 91 g carbohydrates. Excellent source of vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin C, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6. Good source of vitamin B12.
