These cookies are so simple you can set up the ingredients and let the littles take over from there.

Sugar thins are a good first cookie to make for the holidays. They're simple to make and make excellent with-hot-chocolate treats. Buy some pre-made icing and let the littles go wild decorating them.
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  1. Cream butter and sugar until light.

  2. Add wet ingredients, then dry ingredients.

  3. Chill dough (wrapped in wax paper or other wrap) in refrigerator overnight (or a few days) and roll very thin.

  4. Bake on ungreased sheets at 350-deg. F.

  5. Mix together the milk or light cream, icing sugar and vanilla to a good icing consistency.

  6. Put icing in sandwich bags, snip a small corner hole and decorate.
