We love balancing sweet and spicy. The Turmeric Tonic has warming ingredients with ginger, turmeric, and peppercorns. If you’re feeling brave, add some cayenne to top things off. If you’re feeling not so brave, add some coconut nectar or blend in some coconut cream to take the heat down a level. To experiment, blend these ingredients with a cup of ice and some coconut water and turn it into a smoothie.
Yields about 16 oz
- 2 thumb-sized pieces of turmeric
- Thumb-sized piece of ginger
- ½ lemon
- 1 cup cubed pineapple
- ½ orange
- 3 carrots
- A pinch of black pepper
Pass all the ingredients except the pepper through the juicer.
Mix in the pepper, and serve.
