Baby Cereal Recall

Heinz Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) are asking parents not to feed their baby Heinz Mixed Cereal, Stage 2 (from 6 months) in the 227g package with the best before dates of 10 DE 26 and 10 DE 29.

These packages may contain elevated levels of Ochratoxin A and are being voluntarily recalled.

Ochratoxin A is a mycotoxin produced by some fungi that can grow in certain food crops such as grains, grapes and coffee beans and has been classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as a possible human carcinogen.

Do not feed your child the cereal with these dates, but if your child has already consumed some, there is no need for other actions since even the highest levels of ochratoxin A found in these products are not high enough to pose a health risk when consumed as part of a normal diet over the short term. No illnesses have been reported.
