We’ve been following the owl trend for months now and we are so happy to see that it has carried over into the holiday season. So what do owls have to do with Christmas? Meh who cares, they are cute and when done correctly can provide just the right amount of kitsch or glam (depending on your personal taste).
So how do you do it correctly? We suggest choosing one particular owl-focused piece and then carry the theme throughout the room (or floor of your house) with similar colours and texture so that you don’t over do it with the hooters.
So, why not start with the tree? Buy, or make, a couple dozen owl ornaments for a themed tree this year and add simple coordinating details, such as ribbons, garlands and simple bulbs or ornaments (we especially love snowy owls mixed with metallic ribbons and earthy accents, like pine cones). If a themed-tree isn’t an option at your house, try a smaller tabletop version or place some owls in vintage cloches and line them on your mantel along with garlands (real when possible).
But, if owl decor isn’t right for you, maybe you’ll find some of these great owl-inspired gifts under your tree this year.
