Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal (serves 4)
With a healthy dose of soluble and insoluble fiber, iron, zinc and Vitamin E, a hearty bowl of oatmeal is a great way to start your day! This apple cinnamon version adds some flavour to a breakfast classic.
Cut one apple into small cubes. On the stove, bring 3 cups of water to a boil, then add 1 ½ cups of oats and a pinch of salt before bringing the heat down to simmer. Cook time depends on the brand of oats (anywhere between 1 and 10 minutes) but when the mixture starts to thicken, add the apples so they have time to soften. When the oats are cooked, add ½ teaspoon of cinnamon, a quarter cup of brown sugar and milk to taste.
