Why I Love My Neighbourhood

Parents and kids of Riverdale's Pape School working together in the school's children's garden.

I love my neighbourhood! Having great neighbours, parks, shops and lots of community events around make it easier to live in a smallish house. We live in Riverdale, a heavily treed area with charming Victorian homes and pretty little gardens just east of Toronto’s downtown core. I love that there are a bajillion kids in our ‘hood, almost as many cafés and restaurants, fabulous green spaces like Withrow Park and Riverdale Farm (yes, technically the Farm is in Cabbagetown), lots of schools and child care centres and dozens of ice cream trucks.

This Saturday May 23rd there will be a big Garage Sale and Family Fun Day at the Holy Name Church at 606 Danforth Avenue. Come find great deals on new and gently used baby and kids gear and toys and shop for household items and other “gems” too. Bring the kids as there will be face painting, games, live animals, crafts and a silent auction. The event takes place from 9 AM – 2PM and all proceeds go to Pape Children’s House, a not-for-profit child care centre in Riverdale.
